Dolphin Galaxy

I just took this of the very aptly named Whale Galaxy. This was a fun target and it’s crazy how much it actually does resemble a whale! The Whale Galaxy is a near edge on spiral galaxy around 30 million light years from Earth. It is believed to be about the same size of the Milky Way so around 100,000 light years in diameter. Also, in the picture you can see a dwarf elliptical galaxy directly above it. I took this with my Celestron C8 with the f/6.3 reducer and it’s made up of about 3.5 hours of exposures. I stacked 70, 180 second exposures to produce this photo.
