The Sun

This may look like a painting but I assure you this is a photo of the Sun! I took these of the Sun recently with my Celestron C8 and a f/6.3 reducer which was just enough to fit the whole Sun in the field of view. This was shot using a white light solar filter which blocks all the heat and harmful UV radiation from entering the telescope and going to the camera sensor. Never look at the sun through a telescope without a solar filter or specific hydrogen alpha solar filter or you can damage your equipment or your eyes! I’m pretty happy with this first attempt and I was able to capture some Sun spots as well.
